- State what you can do, or that you cannot do it.
- Offer one practical option only if there is one.

A guilt-trip text can make a simple no turn into a paragraph about why you are not a bad person. A calmer reply answers the real request, says what is possible, and leaves the emotional pressure out of the decision.
I know this is frustrating. I cannot take this on tonight. I can help look at options tomorrow, or you can ask someone else if it needs to happen today.
Use it when the message makes you want to apologize too much, defend your character, or agree to something you do not have room to do.
You do not need to answer every accusation or prove your history. A useful reply keeps the decision clear enough that the thread can move forward or end.
